Tony Lopez is interested in how our new machines give us the opportunity to immerse ourselves in their cultural neutrality, to be in a private space where we can simultaneously observe and create our own aesthetic experience free from implied meaning, purpose or motivation.
He adapts computers to randomly generate familiar themes, modifies electronic printing devices to archive fleeting moments, and redefes the operation of electro-mechanical devices, looking at the by-products of their dysfunction.
