Paul Newman generates a fragmented narrative of imaginary characters depicted in invented scenarios. With influences such as Angela Carter, Kafka, Lewis Carol and dark fairytale, the imagery straddles the surreal and subversly sinister with habitual mannerisms of the everyday mundane.
The drawn protagonists are developed through painting, multi media installation, photography and live performance. Elements of the absurd, nonsensical and the uncanny are depicted pictorially and are sometimes manifested in the off kilter construct of the work and application of the medium.
