Drone Ship

AAS installation in Anjin 1600: Edo Wonderpark by David Blandy

AAS Drone Ship

AAS were invited by David Blandy to build an installation based on the anime series Space Battleship Yamato in his exhibition exploring the interplay between Japanese and English culture.

This ‘film set’ style installation developed our interest in science fiction and the suspension of disbelief, previously seen in our Quatermass projects.

Circle of Fifths

AAS curated a night of drone based music as one of Reactor Halls events in Nottingham, featuring the AAS band Samekhmem (Ana Benlloch, Alex Marzeta, Vanessa Page, Stuart Tait), alongside performances from Graham Dunning, Gem Milsom and Phillip Henderson. Each of these artists or musicians has been part of AAS at some point and are all considered fifth members of the group.

The musicians played in a circle and over the period of one and a half hours played their own set of drone based music which crossed over into the next artists set, creating a continual cycle of drone. The performance ended with everyone playing together in a cumulative cacophony of drone and drums.
